The Bond

When an embezzler returns to the U.S. from his fugitive exile in Côte d'Ivoire, he triggers a cycle of events that exposes the cover-up of a brutal murder that ensnares a high-profile lawyer, a black governor, and a wealthy African American CEO in a web of deceit and terror. The lives and reputations of black role models are at stake in this suspenseful who-done-it.

This story of reunion and betrayal begins when Gerard Worthington, an electronics tycoon, attends a reunion at a black college. At this reunion, old relationships, such as his fraternity friendship with the black governor of Georgia, are reinvigorated. However, tensions also resurface at the event—notably with his ex-girlfriend, Brenda Johnson. Brenda, who had a tumultuous life involving scandal, disbarment, and a failed marriage, seeks Gerard’s help to get her life back on track, leading to further complications.

Gerald is arrested for allegedly murdering a blackmailer who secretly accused him of involvement in a murder cover-up. Gerard’s imprisonment deeply affects his family, particularly his wife and daughter, who struggle to manage their lives and the family business.
